Aggressiveness Of Fish

Now i know this may be a stupid question and i have been able to succesfully keep fish well for over a few years with ease but i was wondering... Do Agressive fish that start out to be smaller than a more "community" type fish have a smaller chance of attacking it once they grow more towards their adult size?

I'm not experimenting with this of course. But i was wondering if the two can coexist even if they community fish is small enough to be eaten

The only fish I've read about where introducing the predatory fish at a young age to a tank of potential long term prey are Fire Eels...

If the eel is added as a baby to say a tank of lets say Neon Tetras, apparently the odds of the Neons being eaten as the eels gets bigger are pretty low.

Hmm i think some aggressive fish are just aggressive by nature and nothing in the way that you raise them will change that. I was given my Red Tailed Black Shark when it was a tiny little baby (it wasn't aggressive at all back them) and kept it in a community fish tank (most of the fish were its size back then or only slightly smaller), but as it grew larger it became territorial towards the other fish.
I have heard though that if RTBS are kept in a tank where all their tank mates are larger than them then they become a lot more placid in nature, but if kept with fish smaller than them then they will always be a bully. So its not about the way you raise the fish, but more about the size & type of fish you keep with it when it comes to what temperment it has.

thank you to both of you It's always cool to learn something new and potentially fun to do. Maybe there are certain types that become less aggressive but i think you're right about them just generally being a bully if they become the largest

My Siamese Flying Fox is an outright thug!!

He doesn't like the Danios one bit. If a nosey little Danio dares to enter his territory, he goes mental!! Interestingly, he leaves the Kuhlis and the Corys alone, but he used to pick on the BN plec.

Agreed, that is a little bit weird! It's strange how sometimes they tend to bully certain fish over others. I have an elephant nose fish and he's a funny little guy haha but he strangely picks on one fish if it goes into his home and just shoos the others away. But he's weird, for a nocturnal fish, he sure enjoys playing around in the aquarium at any time of the day! Good to know my fish are comfortable
