I have my betta fish in a community tank with 5 neon tetras and some other bottom-feeders and snails. I noticed that my betta was losing finnage as if from being nipped and asked for help on the betta forum. Another member said that the neons were the problem. How can I fix this without taking out the neons because I really like them? Is there any way to make the neons stop?

No there's no way to make them stop. Either them or the beta will have to go

I have always heard that tetras and bettas mix well though. Is this true or just an exception?

How big is your tank?
If you have room, I'd add some more tetras, they do better in larger shoals & would probably then leave the Betta alone as they'd argue amongst themselves

I had a group of 13 cardinals in my 180L with my betta and they were fine for weeks and then started nipping. But yeah if you can fit more in give it a try but there was plenty of space in my tank and 13 is an ok-ish number.

Thanks for the advice I'll try and get 3 more in there :)

I acquired a few more neons but my bettas tail is still getting worse ;/ any suggestions??????????
