I'm going to introduce my female to the male next weekend in the chimney and if all goes well sometime next week I may get some eggs. What I'm wondering is after the eggs hatch what do I do. I will have the food ready and I will preform th necessary water changes but do I keep the dad in there with them the whole time or can I remove him like a day of two later to make sure he doesn't eat them?

most people say remove otherwise he will keep trying to put them back in the nest and like you said become frustrated and eat them! I would say give him a couple of days and remove

remove him when the babies are free swimming, usualy 2-3 days or so. If it looks like he's starting to eat them then take him out and the babies will have to take their chance

Hi. I suggest you consider reading the page that's linked from my signature. It has the low-down. Also, in case you don't have any BBS eggs or microworms, I would suggest getting those ready before you spawn. If you don't have live foods to feed your babies then the chance of them surviving is rather dismal unfortunately :(
