okay so i went out and purchased a Tetra Whisper 40 aeration system and with the "T" i'am able to run two tubeings so.... this is my setup....

One tube into the 20gal, the other into the 10gal.. so there should be good aeration left between the both.
the 10gal is for my baby fry :)

Anyhow i think there is a problem because the stone placed in the 20gal isn't fully flowing only the top part is.. is this normal??? it is a long stick rectangular shaped and i had the impress that ALL of it should be flowing???

here is an image of what i have purchased, it is the larger one to the right i believe, it is hard to measure by the image.

the 10gal air stone is small round and it does flow pretty well all around the ball! and heck it was $0.99 compared to the $3 i paied for the larger one! so what is going on.. is my stone broken? cloged? need time to circulate? awww sorry so many questions i', just confused with this stuff LOL.

thanks

thats quite a common thing for airstones, long ones anyway. sometimes you can make some bigger holes in the stone with a pin but you do run the risk of breaking the stone, if its a long one you want for decoration rather than just for the air you can get a bubble bar, that runs horizontal and is better at producing bubbles the whole length.

also if your airpump isnt powerful enough this can happen

oh okay, well i tried to run it on it's own but it just makes more pressure the rest doesn't do anything much at all. id on't think i want to start poking holes lol.

If you run the stone horizontally in your tank, the water pressure will be the same all the way along it and the bubbles should come out of the whole thing. If you let it hang vertically, the pressure at the bo9ttom is much higher than the pressure at the top so only the part that sees low pressure, the top, will have bubbles coming out.
This all assumes you have an air pump big enough to run both stones.

hmm you are right! placing it on it's side makes it come out alot more .. thank you :D
