Hello, due to really stupid mistake on my behalf I had to move my rather large boy into a vase - temporary until I can get something sorted for him today, it isn't a small vase but not really big enough for what I like to keep my fish in. Anyway I notice he is swimming away really happily, eating more, and this morning he had built a huge bubble nest. I really don't understand these lovely little fish, they seem to ask for so little in life. All I can think is that there is no filter, which he did really hate in the other tank. So what do I do - put him in an unfiltered tank? I have a small heater.

You can try to not filter a tank, however I prefer to filter all of mine.

If you can, try turning the filter flow down as low as it gets, and maybe even making a flow-kill with a 2l bottle.

I have alot of unfiltered tanks the only downside is a couple more water changes than normal. When i do filter tanks i always use sponge filtes as the water disturbence is minimal and so the fish is not upset or disturbed by it.
