Hi, my girlfriend has posted a question in the Emergencies section about high pH readings, so sorry for repeating oursleves; it's just that everyone seems more active on this board, plus I'm not posting about an emrgency, just after some advice. To summarise; please don't hurt me. Anyway, I just wondered if anyone can give us some info, or point us to another good post about pH and what causes it to rise. Ours has risen from 7.6 (same as tap water) to 8.2 and the only thing that has changed is that we added a small piece of red lava rock about a 10 days ago. Other stats are Ammnia 0, Nitirite 0, Nitrate 20. Just trying to find out as much as possible about rising pH so we know what to do, Thanks

Could be something on the lava rock. Pull it out, do a water change, and test again in a few days.
