Okay well i have a 125L fluval Tank but it looks dead bare!

I currently have in there;
2 angel fish
2 Synodontis Catfish
2 Kuhli loaches
1 Bolivian Ram
1 Pleco
2 albino african clawed frogs

All these fish but my tank looks empty! Im going to my LFS tomorrow and see if i can get some fish to get rid of the bareness but my problem is choosing which one? I love guppies but am afraid of my frogs not getting along with them,
Any suggestions would be amazing and a lot appreciated!

Thank you Guys!!

I think you need a little shoal of fish, maybe neon tetras or something to brighten the tank up a bit :) Or maybe some platies... I highly reccommend them, my favourite fish. they are very colourful, easy to breed and playful! Strongly reccommed them over guppies :good:

i would sort out your current stocking first to be honest.

I agree. Most of your fish would benefit from being in bigger groups of their own kind. I wouldnt have thought that by the time you put them in appropriately sized groups you'd have any more space for additional species.

Personally I wouldn't add any. I would make up that emptiness with plants, rocks, or driftwood. If you have your heart set on it I am not sure I have something to recommend for you.

What would you recommend for shoaling my current fish?

Not so much the groups as bad mix of fish.

Synodontis cats: Some of these reach ridiculous sizes, you need to be specific about which breed as there are over one-hundred kinds
Angelfish: This tank is on the small side for one angel, but probably do-able. If the angel's are not paired they will likely fight and kill each other, if they are paired they will likely attack and kill other fish when spawning.
Kuhli Loaches: Need to be in groups and want a sand substrate
Pleco: Depends on what kind of pleco, please specify.
Clawed Frogs: Very incompatible. Grow too large. Feed on fish. I believe they may have very bad sight so need a species tank to be able to feed, not 100% sure on this.

OK well i've had these fish together for over 6 months and everything has been great, they all get along with any fighting

Fair enough if you want to go that way but please take note that as these fish mature things may go bottoms-up. Feel free to seek further opinions, indeed, i actively encourage you to.

i understand that, I'm going to leave them, maybe aad a kuhli or two. If i go ahead and get guppies i don't know if they would get attacked... would a shoal of them help prevent this?

Shoaling does protect the fish from predators, that's really it's function. I do agree with Tuxy. I realize it's your tank and I can only give advice. My experience has been that the behavior of fish can drastically change with age. Long term success is usually measured in years rather than months. While it's commendable that they've been doing well for 6 months I am still concerned this might not remain the case. I recommend waiting for a few more people to chime in so you can get a broad sense of opinion before making a purchase. That's just me, I like to take things slowly.

A quick note about the guppies. Let's just say i know of someone who keeps guppies just so his angels can have some live food.

The guy i know of actually keeps fully grown male guppies, probably females to.

So as the angel grows it will go from fry to adults! So a platy would be a better choice for him?
