Hi !

I am new to this forum and new to Discus , need some advice from experts here,
I have 5 discus ranging from 3.5 to 4.5 inches.
Have 1 discus abt 4 inches, always hiding near filter and not eating much for 2-3 weeks.
previously was active and eating normally.
The rest of the 4 discus are v active and eats alot...water changed every 4-5 days, add nitrate out and BB with every water change. Tank is cycled and has heater..have them for 7-8 months.

Strangely the rest of the Discus do not peck this discus ..is it female etc..suspect got eggs as sometimes sees small white things on ground.
What could be wrong with this isolated discus? no cloudy eyes, no injuries, no fin rot, no poos as not eating much..any advice is greatly appreciated.

Tks!

I've experienced this a couple of times since keeping Discus. If your water parameters are correct there is not a great deal you can do about it. The first time it happened to me the female Discus hid away and didn't noticeable eat for 2 months. Then she seemed to snap out of it without any intervention and is now one of a breeding pair and one of the biggest fish in the tank. On the other occasion the poor fish just faded away and had to be euthanized just before it starved to death.

The one thing I have found is that worming is necessary (IMO). Hhttp://plymouthdiscus.com/discus-health is worth reading it has some good tips.

good luck
