I have both an internal and external in my main tank, just to make sure lol.

The external is easier to clean as:

1 - You stay relatively dry
2 - It is easier to get to
3 - Just generally collects more waste than any internal (I'd imagine).

Hello,

Yes you can buy external filters with built in UV. However the UV wattage tends to be low.. I'd go for a seperate UV unit.
