I have a 5US gallon tank (well, its my sisters) and I am planning 2 ADF for it. I also have 2 Harlequin Rasboras, a H&T Light tetra, a neon and my sis has 3 guppies that were in the tank. at the moment it has a baby silver molly and the harlies and neon. Now, which of these fish are compatible, cos I cant find it on the internet and I cant find ANY books on ADFs, and how many of these can go in the 5USg tank with the froggies? Plus, is it worth getting a little tank for the shrimp I plan to feed it or shall i keep them in a jar or something? whats best? I was thinking about 30-50 at a time?

For a 5 gallon tank you could potentially keep about 6-8 frogs. If you only kept frogs. Any of those fish would be compatable with ADFs. ADFs can be kept in a community aquarium with peaceful community fish. Nothing agressive and nothing very large. A large fish will have no trouble making a meal of your frogs.

Hi plecoperson :)

A 5 gallon tank would make a comfortable home for 2 ADF and several of the small fish you mention. The frog won't eat anything larger than perhaps a very young guppy, but any fish that could fit one of the frog's little hands and arms in its mouth should be avoided.

You must also be certain that the top of the tank is completely covered since they are good jumpers. If your home is reasonably warm year round they do not need either heat or filtration, so I like to keep them by themselves.

I don't know what to suggest about your shrimp since I feed mine live blackworms and tubifex worms. HBH also makes a product just for little frogs called "Frog Bites" and this is a handy thing to keep in for those times when live food is not available.

Did you read the pinned article about frogs at the top of this forum? If not, I recommend it. I think you will enjoy some of the links and it's important to be able to tell the difference between them and their larger relatives the African Clawed Frogs.

I think you will enjoy your little frogs immensely!

Thanks for your help! The harlequins seem to be lovely peaceful fish. I thought about more than 2 frogs but 5g doesnt look very big when the tanks in front of you - 8 frogs might be piled up! Im happy wth two, as long as theyre happy together! Im not keen on feeding them livefood but I geuss Ill feed them whatever theyre on now. Im not getting them for another month I reckon. Thanks for your help, and I have read the posts at the top and every other ADF post here! :D
