Was watching my new ADFs eating their worms last night, both sat facing each other and in turn 'lurching' for their dinner as it fell between them. Then one lurched and got the other's head in his mouth! His mate was waggling his legs like mad and got spat out a few seconds later!

They're not aggressive with each other at all, but could one really nip another's head by accident?! "Sorry about that old chap, it's this jaw reflex thing..."

Needless to say, I wasn't expecting that to happen! Otherwise they seem best buddies! Plus my betta seems utterly transfixed by them, spending ages sat on the bottom of the tank staring at each other!!

PS Inchworm, they are ADFs, don't panic! Read your posts before purchasing, all hands and feet well and truly webbed!

froogs will eat anything they can that moves, ive heard of firebellie toads sitting around toghether chewing on each others legs

Hi Origami Gourami :)

Can you imagine if they had a conversation about that? "Ooops, sorry about that."
"What the matter, do I look like a worm to you?"

It was just an accident, I'm sure. ;)

Cheers Inchworm, I'd hate to think one had a vendetta! :D

PS: Inchworm, I'm intrigued:

How do these little fellas breathe; they seem to hurtle up to the surface and either grab a lungful and continue rooting around on the tankbed, or they float up there for a bit, chilling out, almost like skydivers in freefall!

Do they take all their air from the surface, or do they just do this to top up their 'fuel-tank' so to speak and breathe underwater? To say they only have little lungs, they seem to be able to last ages!

I made a shelter out of old plastic leaves for my gouramis months ago, but the frogs have adopted this and like to sit on the leaves with their noses out of the water, taking in the morning air (well, beneath the hood anyhow!). This is quite handy because I can feed them worms before all the greedy bettas and tetras (not to mention the dopey shark) get to them, who also eat the catfish food as well as their own, sheesh! :dunno:

Yeah my 3 African dwarf frogs chew each other too!

They never hurt each other I think its more playful than hurtful, if you know what I mean! :D
