Does anyone think its worth having an additional tank set-up in case of an emergency?

I was thinking the other day that if things went ‘Pete Tong’, I could lose all my 60+ fish in one foul swoop. Or do these things not really tend to happen?

Thanks

I always keep a spare tank normally use it for Fry and such things like that. But always have a small tank setup just incase i need to QT or seperate for any reason.

I recently upgraded to a larger tank and kept the smaller one. I was happy at one point to give it to a young family member who loved my tank each time they came round, but that didn't happen and i'm kind of glad it didn't now...
SHOULD anything drastic happen and it goes all Pete, the majority of my fish could go in there theoretically, but you have nearly twice as many fish as i do so it depends on what space will allow you.
I would probably say the more knowledgeable amongst all have smaller 'hospital' tanks, probably the best idea in the long run.

Terry.

Its a good idea to have a spare tank. Especially for use as a quarantine tank.

My tank cracked and luckily I hadnt got rid of my old tank, so I transferred my fish back into the tank.

It's a great idea to have a second tank in the garage or something, but sometimes that is not feasible.

Ok thanks.

If I can get a cheap secondhand tank I will set one up I think. Sounds like it will be worth while, just don’t want to spend too much but it would be nice to have that security.

i bought a little 17L tank with all accessories for £15 just for a QT to put new fish in, worked a charm, just bung mature media in from my main ext filter and its off... when its not needed its a hospital tank dry stored in the shed.. was thinking about getting rid though as i keep getting the urge to set it up as a full time mini puffer tank :hyper:
