Hi fish forums. My question for today is if I'm able to add 8 tiger barbs and maybe a small pleco(algae) to my 55 gallon tank. The tank currently has firemouth x1, blue acara x1, convict x1, and 1 tiger barb. I want to add some friends for the lonely barb and algae is starting to grow on my tank My tank is cycled with amm, nit, 0 and nitrates reading 10. Is adding 8 tiger barbs in my tank too much or should i reduce the amount of barbs i should put in? PLs help me solve my problem. Thank you, P.S also if u kno any pleco that doesn't get over 5-6 inches would you mind posting it pls thank you.

Adding 8 more tiger's is fine, in fact the lonley TB will be most grateful, TB's need to be in large groups to be happy and it also spreads their nipping tendancies between themselves, leaving other fish alone.

A small plec for a 55g, the most obvious being a bristlenose plec, like algae, or a bulldog plec, nubbernose plec, also. However, they do need their diet supplemented with algae wafters, pellets, veggies etc for optimum health.

Thanks a lot minx, you really helped me with this problem. Thanks again.
