Well i thought i might get one or two real plants to put with my african dwarf frogs (i have 3) in a 3 gallon tank, i was wondering what are some plants that survive easily, and would the plants need anything to keep them alive, i dont use a filter, i change the water every week, does that matter? So yea info on how to make sure theyl live! thanks!

you should be using a filter, or if not, performing 90% water changes every day to keep the ammonia down.

Anubias, moss balls, java fern java moss are all easy

i was researching things online and i think im going to go with anubias! They seem very simpple, but wow water change everyday? You dont think water changes every 5 days would be ok? I would get a filter but the tank i have for now is so small and plus i have african dwarf frogs which are very sensitive to vibrations

They may be sensitive to vibrations, but I'd have thought they're much more sensitive to being poisoned by ammonia.

Agree with the above, daily water changes to keep ammonia below 0.25 AT LEAST, are pretty much essential :(

water changes every coupe of weeks would be ok, providing you have a filter. They will be fine with the vibrations, they aren't that sensitive.
As you may know the waste produced by animals & any rotting food produces ammonia. Levels should not rise above 0.25ppm otherise it becomes lethal - even levels that small arent advised. The same goes with Nitrite, which is also very toxic, lastly, nitrate is produced but this is less toxic, and water changes remove the nitrates.

amonia > Nitrite > Nitrate

without a filter, the bacteria (the arrows) needed to convert these toxins cannot develop in sufficient numbers. Also note that plants use ammonia as a source of nitoen, so they will help too.

I reccomend you buy a liquid (not test strip) ammonia and nitrite test kit to test the levels

You can buy a Hang on Back (HOB) filter so that no space is taken in the tank, also cheap :)

I am quite surprisd they have survived this long (not offending your skills or techniques). Hpw long have you had them now?

wow well ive had them for about three months now, none have died, and seem to be healthy! I hand feed them and remove excess food, and use silk plants, and change 90% of the water every 5 days but had no idea about filter like that! awesome! I think im going to get one, alot less hassle and il go by the store tomorrow and see if they have a filter like that and the test kits
