Acuracy Of Heaters And Thermometers

I was just wondering if you guys think I should be able to trust my heater to make the water a certain temp if I set it to that, also if the thermometer says its a certain temp, is it really? How acurate are they? Thanks in advance!

Well I don't know if this helps answer your question a little as all heaters probably are not created equal but don't ever get a Top Fin heater they are crap.

My 200 watt Top Fin at the lowest setting sends my 55 gallon's temps up to over 86 F if I plug it up.

The bad thing is it didn't do it when I first bought it, it started doing it unexpectedly and I just happen to monitory my temps all the time.

So no some heaters can't be trusted.

I would think they are like many other things in the more expensive they are the better the product. Don't skimp on heaters.
