Activated Carbon

hi all!!!

i have heard that there is actualy no point to having carbon in a HOB filter other than to get rid of medications and such

is this true

if so what do you all recomend putting in that space instead?

Extra sponge or Bio media.

I use carbon when my water starts getting off color. It seems to help, but others may disagree.
