Is it the plec waste that you've experienced discoloring acrylic?

Ahh! Then, I'm glad I've chosen to quarantine and then house my new plecs in glass. ;)

My acrylics are near a year old. So far no discoloration and no major unsightly scratches. I think I have heard that x-large acrylic tanks can be a weighty issue. (A pun is intended.) :)

I prefer glass. It looks nice, its easier to clean with an algey scraper.

also it lasts longer....

Well, I would like lighter tanks, but other than that, I have to go with glass.

I have 3 small children who like to get right up at the tanks. There is no way I could handle the scratches they would give an acrylic tank.

I have both, and the Acrylic has only 1 advantage for me- weight. For the amount of times I move the tanks, it isn't worth it. It scratches easily, and as a result is much trickier to clean, and often looks a bit dull.

I also seem to recall there being an issue with Marine in acrylic, but can't substantiate that.

Handy to have around for quarantine/fry/hospital though.

I know Marine aquariasts who say that Marine algae is impossible to scrape in acrylic.
