Glass is better IMO. It doesn't scratch as easy and doesn't just disintegrate when it wears out unlike acrylic. Acrylic is lighter and I think more durable but scratches easier and doesn't last as long.
I have both. I like that acrylic is light weight and easy to move. No way I could move my 100 usg glass by myself. I have an Eclipse 12 (acrylic) and a 40 usg Sea Clear Exec. They will scratch. I have some minor 2" pin scratches, but they are still clear and have that molded form that is very chic. I haven't had them long enough to experience them disintergrating. I can pick up my forty gallon acrylic (empty or near enough) or tip it up.
I have a hundred usg, a twenty usg, and a ten. I needed a moving crew to move the hundred in. Acrylic scratches, but glass chips and sometimes cracks or breaks. First thing I did was chip my 100 usg and count myself lucky that it didn't crack and leak. My 20 usg is chipped, too, from moving around. Again, I'm glad enough that it is still usable.
I could drop my Sea Clear. It might scratch. My twenty glass? Hmm
All that being said, I am glad to have any tank that holds water safely that you want to give me.
Glass tanks are better, since acrylic is less durable and prone to scratching and discoloration. If you want to see the best looking and highest quality aquariums in the world, look no further than-------------------------------->ADA tanks
On the above link, you need to create an acount to see the tanks. It only takes a second, and its worth it.
glass for me....doesnt scratch, discolor, doesnt come in odd shapes that r hard to pick caves and such out for...to me the class just seems to look nicer longer...all my acrylic tanks tend to look a litle old and used after just being set for a little while
