Is it ok to keep catfish(small varieties) in an acrylic tank? I have had to move them into an acrylic tank as they were being stressed out by my tiger barbs and firemouth :grumpy: . I am planning to get a larger tank as this tank is too small for them when they are full grown. I would prefer another acrylic tank but somewhere in the back of my mind I heard that acrylic was'nt such a good idea for catfish. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes the tank scratching seems to ring a bell. The catfish I have are 2 bristle noses , a Queen arabesque pleco and a peckoltia angelicus. I've had another idea since posting the question I might get an acrylic tank for the tiger barbs and firemouth and put the cats back in my glass tank with some less manic fish.
I dunno about acrylic tanks for cats, I have one for my betta and his friends. It's only just been set up, so I can't make any comments about it yet

But Hey, I noticed you're from Essex - where abouts No comments abouty white boots and Essex girls Hi wisteria, not sure about this one, ancistrus and pl*cs rasp at surfaces i.e. tank sides, wood etc. so may damage the surface of the acrylic. I don't know if the acrylic, if they can scratch it, will do them any harm. Anyone else got info?? Mac.

depends on the varriety a royal panaque could quite easily after all they eat wood i guess it depends on what there mouts are made for some would probally be fine but i would avoid panaques
