Ok i just got a African clawed frog. And i read up about them and i have a pretty good knowledge about them but i just need to know can they breathe underwater right from birth or do lungs devolop later on.i used to get wild tadpoles from a pond down the street in the woods and i put in air for them.Oh yea i didnt know where to post this sry and all post some pics of him later.

I believe he breathes at the surface, like all frogs.

I might be wrong though

no they take air from the surface, they shed there skin, they can grow to the size of your fist, and the males croak, you probably know all this!

Hi BettaMania :)

African Clawed Frogs are great! I love mine.

They are surface breathers that can stay submerged for long periods.

I'll move your thread to the Invertebrates and Amphibians forum where you might want to post future questions about them. If you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to the thread we have pinned in there about them and their smaller relatives, the African Dwarf Frogs. I hope you find it interesting. :D

If you have a camera, it would be really nice if you would share pictures of him as he grows up.

Here he is as of right now
