hi everyone, i have a question aobut blue acara fry. we have 3 different stages of fry, one is 7 months old, the next batch about 2 months old and the thrid batch about 1 month old. how big do they need to be before i can move them into the main tank? my oldest one is aobut 1 inch long and is 7 months. he is in a 20 litre tank. is the size of the tank the reason why he is so small or is that about right?? i am wondering about the rate of growth. any help would be most appreciated

Dont know about these fry in particular but I imagine any answer you get will need to ask the following:

What is in the main tank that you want to put these into?

I have a community (fairly placid Mbuna community) where there are just spat fry existing happily alongside 3 month olds and adults. As long as there are hading spaces big enough for the fry but too small for the adults then the fry can get on with growing without being eaten.

Fish will release hormones into the water - the size of the fish is hampered more by the hormones than the size of the tank. i.e. if you change water often then the hormones are reduced so the fish keeps growing.
