Hi Guys! Need help!

My current tank is 60cmx30cmx35cm (55Litres, 14.5 US Gal)

It is overstocked!

I just bought a Betta 2 weeks ago which is in a 2 US Gal tank.

I am an official fan of Bettas after the purchase!

Right now, I am thinking of rehoming the rest of my fishes and make the 14.5G tank as a new home for my Betta.

The question now is, which fish/fishes should I keep as tankmates for my Betta coz I don't like the idea of my Betta being alone.

The current stock I have now is:
1) 3x Red Zebra Danios
2) 6x Corydoras
3) 1x Koi Swordtail
4) 15x Neon Tetras

And what kind of set-up shall I look into? for eg. Filter flow? Hideouts? etc

I don't intend to put in live plants.. :)

Tks in advance!

What type of corydoras do you have?

You could have a school (<10) of pygmy or habrosus corys. It depends on the bettas behaviour to whether or not you can hae them, as some bettas are just too aggressive to be kept with other fish.

I have 3 Sterbai, 2 Panda and 1 Leopard

I am a strong believer that the Betta I have is quite the calm one... :)
(bcoz I hav tried leaving him in the tank for 3 days then decided not to risk him in there! and he was doin very well! that is one factor I wanna home him in the tank!)

Unfortunately, those species of cory aren't suitable for a 14G.
It would be best for you to rehome them along with the rest of the fish. You can then buy either some pygmy OR habrosus corys, don't get some of each as they're much happier being one type.

If you think your betta isn't very aggressive ten he should be fine, just leave his current tank up for a little while after the move as a backup plan for if he suddenly turns.

Got it! tks..

Anw, any reasons why Cory is a preferred choice over Neon tetra? Just wondering.. :)

Cories are the preferred choice because they tend to stay at the bottom level, while the betta is usually at the top.
Hastatus is another small cory that would work, but out of the three (pygmy, hastatus, habrosus), habrosus is the one that mainly stays at the bottom. :)

Tks! I have checked them out and would definitely get them!

Is it the Hastatus or Pygmy ones that actualy like to swim at the middle areas as well?

Will miss the colours of the neon tetras though.. :(
Their colours complement the White Betta I have..

Now.. how many shall I get?
6 or 10??
lol

I'm not sure on the hastatus but the pygmies like to swim in every area from what I've heard, yes.
Perhaps you could set up another tank for the neon tetras?

I'll leave it to someone else to tell you how many to get, though if it helps I had 15 in my 20g Long with my betta Discord

Oh woops, I forgot to specify what I had. Habrosus cories :) Sorry!

IMO you could have 10 at a push, though 8 would be a lot better.

Neon tetras can be bit nippy, as well as the point Ninj mentioned, about the corys staying mostly at the bottom.

IMO any of the types of dwarf cory would be alright, since your betta doesn't seem to show much interest (from what you've said) in the rest of your fish.
