Did a water change in the community tank last night and at about 85% empty,.... I put the hose in to refill, but still left the syphon hose in, so the tank was filling up very slowly and draining very slowly....
Filling up was just a fraction faster than draining so the level rose very slowly....By the time the water was about 3" from the top, I removed the draining hose, waited for the tank to fill and closed the tap....
10 minutes later, my Angels, Discus and Kribensis were all floating at the top, being bouyant from all the little bubbles layering their bodies....... I quickly scooped them out and put them in a tank in the garage with the Swords and Blue Gouramies.......
Close encounter, but they're all fine this morning and back in the community tank.
(I know someone is burning to tell me "I told you so"...., my advice here is ..."Never change more than 75% of your tank water"..... I was just fortunate to have conditioned tanks available, otherwise they would all have died.
