Can/will a male fertilize the eggs of more than one female at a time?

Or is he just a tease?

No not a tease, with danios in group spawning's eggs and stuff goes everywhere. It is feasible that a male could fertilize eggs from more than one female. Tetras, barbs and some of the catfish that group spawn are the same. Gourami's and Cichlids tend to have one on one spawning rituals

what sort of fish are you talking about?

normally male fish will breed with one female at a time. However, other males might swim in and fertilise eggs too.

I thought in group spawning's one male would fertilize eggs from all females

2 male
4 female
pseudomugil furcatus
(Blue-eyed Forktails)

Female just hanging out up in her spot
Another just waiting in another spot, a couple more darting about.
Females skirmish for a bit, then take spots again.
Males just flitting about non- committedly.

Eeee gads !
I'm tited of watching.
Lights out ☆

These fish are annoying, @Colin_T will give you his experiences. But I know they can be frustrating
I beg yout pardon...I don't find them annoying at all!
I have 8 juveniles raised from fry
without any special help from me. Just a lookout for the wiggle !
To each their own, I guess ?

Edit for spelling
