I went to Petco today looking for a stand for my 55g tank, and came home with this little guy. He now swims happily in my 40g community tank.

My new Doubletail Halfmoon...still unamed.

I've be so tempted many times ... he's a beauty! And btw Flare is incredible.

Yeah I try to tell myself to stay away from the bettas.....now I have 4 lol. Flare was a rare find as well. He is huge. He is about 3 inches long and his fins are big. He couldnt move hardly in the jar! I had to bring him home! lol

Thank you for the kind comment. I'm starting to debate on the idea of a sorority.

Lovely betta!! I have always had a soft spot for blue bettas

It was pointed out to me by my friend...(uh, so called friend after what she said about my goldies!)...anyways my "friend" :grr: said I have a bunch of "dopey" goldfish...

afterwards I did look at my tank and, grudgingly, admit that I seem to get ones who make "special" facial expressions...

case in point...

Nice betta he looks like mine :D
Thank you.....oh BTW, as far as my 55g journal....guess what fish we decided on :D

Malawi's hopefully ;).. What have you chosen :D?
6 x Pseudotropheus demasoni OR 6 x Psuedotropheus flavus
10 x Pseudotropheus saulosi
3-5 x Pseudotropheus socolofi

:hyper: Excellant choice's, especially the saulosi both the males and females are beautiful. Just be careful with the demasoni, they can be little terror's if the number and ratio's aren't right. Really good choices though imo :), how is the tank going?

I finally got the filter and heater. We went out in the wilderness and found some realy good stones for the landscaping, and to maintain adequate pH I am doing a sand/crushed coral mixture. The tank is currently in my basement full of water. It had some chips in it that were concerning, so I am keeping in full for two weeks to make sure there are no leaks. All I need now is the stand, which I have ordered online. I will start the fishless cycle beginning of november hopefully.

Brilliant :) looking forward to seeing the tank take shape. What kind of rock's have you picked up? pebble/boulder or something different?? Yeah i remember looking at the pics of the chips (think it was your tank) should be ok as it's not under as much pressure/stress as say the corner of the aquarium. Dont forget lots of pics when the tank starts to take shape :D :good:

One of the chips is on the corner, but we were able to repair it. I had a hobbyist at my LFS look at it (he has 18 tanks! :hyper:) and he said it should be fine. These are the rocks we found. We found both flat, and round stones. I am not sure what they are made of.
