A New Rare Beauty Rescued From Petco's Jars

One of the chips is on the corner, but we were able to repair it. I had a hobbyist at my LFS look at it (he has 18 tanks! :hyper:) and he said it should be fine. These are the rocks we found. We found both flat, and round stones. I am not sure what they are made of.

Oh must of been different someone else's tank that i looked at, thought it was your's. As long as it hasn't bust the seal and its only a chip it should be ok, usually corners are more tender but i suppose it depends on how bad the chip is. Nice looking rock, could do a nice aqua scape with it all, some pieces look a little like limestone which is good. Not a 100% sure what it all is though but it will make a nice looking malawi tank :good:

We weren't sure if the seal was busted or not, but we resealed it on the of chance. It is not leaking now, so i think it is going to be okay. I am just anxious now that I have a lot of the stuff I need. I am ready to get to the actual setup. Right now all I have pictures of is random items that I am going to use! I think the stones may be limestone, as I found them by the cliffs in the missouri hillside.

Well at least you have re sealed it to be sure :)..You going for external or internal filtration? If its limestone that's good but even if it isn't, it will still look good :)

What is the different lol. I bought a Marineland Biowheel Emperor 400, which is a double biowheel OTB filter, and a Aqueon Pro 250 adjustable heater.

Well without blabbering on to much lol basically an external filter is a canister filter containing usually 3/5 basket/sections holding the filter media they can have their media tailored specifically to the requirements of your livestock, which is good. They can sit under/next to the tank aquarium/stand/cabinet and have inlet and outlet pipes that sit in the aquarium. Your marineland emperor 400 is a type of external filter as it sit's on the side of the tank (i think :hyper: ??) So the internal filter is basically the opposite as it's full submerged in the aquarium. That's just a brief explanation without going into to much detail :p

That is right, the one I bought sits on the back of the tank (ITS HUGE! LOL)

He is beautiful! looks similar to my new HM :D
YOu don't find em like that often at Petco, thats for sure! When I saw him I HAD to have him lol. First time I have found one that is almost as striking as your "Bettaboys" specimens lol (yes I am JEALOUS of your bettas :p)

i must admit if he was in a store i'd HAVE to have him too! even with no space
I got to looking closer at him. Even though he was sold as a halfmoon, I think he might be a double tail. I will try and get a good picture of him flaring to post, but he is a docile little critter. He loves my platys and swords.

If you look at the last picture I posted, it doeesnt look like his back tail is rounded, it looks like there are two! Lol Regardless, I had to have him. There was a smaller one there that looked very similar, but the only thing I would have had to keep him in if I bought both was a 3L bowl.....it would have been better than the jar, but I don't have another heater. OH And congrats on the eggs! I saw that thread. cannot wait to see pics of the fry.

if he isn't DT then he probably will be, he's definately got the DT gene in there :good:
Thanks for letting me know. I'm still learning about the world of bettas. I can honestly say that keeping them is proving to be very addicting.

Addicting is not the word! i am very much still learning too, this spawn is a very big learning curve for me

I am thinking about *maybe* trying my hand at breeding them learning on. My first steps are to get my Mbuna tank going, then I am going to redo my 40g tank....by then MAYBE. I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do with my 40. Either a dwarf cichlid tank or sorority.
