i am planning on getting a 4 foot fish tank for christmas and was wondering if any of you guys could help me in making my last desicion.

i have 2 in mind.

the Aqualantis - Premier - Evasion 120XL here

the Jewel - Rio 240 here

the Evasion doesn't have a filter but looks more attractive and the Jewel has an adequate internal filter. i would prefer an external filter though tbh, how much would one this size cost me?
I also heard that Jewel are making their tank with T5 lighting too so that would be a bonus lol

both tanks are more or less the same size. does anyone know which is best in quality etc?

thanks

i know this doens't help, they are both wonderfull, if you want to say price wise.. get the cheaper one i guess. goodluck!

:)

All juwel tanks now come with high lite lighting (T5), and with 2 tubes so thats alright. If i were you i would be looking at the cheapest but i think the juwels are gr8 tanks. If you go with the largest, you can have more stocking options and it makes it sound better as its bigger  The juwel filter is alright for planted tanks but it can be equally as good with an overstocked tank if they are not messy fish, anyway, i would not use the juwel filter if you are going to have messy fish as the flow rate isnt great so it cant filter the water as much. Id go with an external canister.
Good luck on your choice

The aqualantis looks by far the more impressive tank. :hyper: At the end of the day spend the most you can afford to spend.
I bought the Rena aqua 100 (see sig) at £350 with filter and lighting although I love my tank and visitors always comment on it, but I always wished I went for the next size up, If it doesn't come with a filter I'm sure you could get some sort of discount if you bought the tank. :good:

Cheers Brads

I like the Evasion 120XL better, it looks nicer. :good:

thanks all! i agree, the evasion does look alot nicer and would go perfectly with my current living room furniture (it's basically all exactly the same style :hyper: )

buttt....... i've totally changed my mind :shifty: thanks alot simbob for sending that link!!

i'm going to get this one

it's the same price, Rena!! and has everything included as well as an external filter  does anyone know if this is an offer or these tanks are priced this way for good?

thanks again!

acctually, i read wrong  Jewel it is i reckon! lol

Have you thought about getting one second hand?

You could get either of those tanks at least half price if you get them second hand, try ebay or aquarium classifieds, I got my juwel 240 with external filter, 3d background, decor, some books, loads of spare equipment as well as a few fish for £120. All the money I saved from buying one brand new went on buying more tanks :) Like the other ebay bargain 2 4ft tanks on a double stand with all the necassary equipment as well as a whole bunch of extra equipment(most of which I gave away) for £45!

no problem mate, whichever tank you choose will be brilliant, its just your personal preference

i kno it would be tonnes cheaper but my mum doesn't like tanks as it is, never mind a second hand one  i just don't know lol i think i'll get the evasion, sell my current tank and buy a quality external filter for it :hyper: perfect! lol
