I once had around 30 rummy-nose in a 500 (8 foot long) and they swam back and forth and back and forth and now - well now the geo grew up and ate all of them but 2

But on the bright side those last 2 seem un-eatable !

I am, admittedly, partial to your Cardinal Tets, but love your setup. While I don’t have any Rummynose Tets, the numbers you have seem really good for that particular fish. Large shoals are ideal for them.

One of my favorites, their beauty accentuated by their tight schooling behavior. Of the three rummy nose species, it looks like you have Petitella bleheri. Really nice.

I have 17 Cardinals, 18 Amber Tetras, and I have just added the 12 Rummy nose tetras. They seemed to have settled in nicely.

Nice, thanks for the info. These are the ones I see most commonly in the UK. They have settled in really well.

I found the rummy more active then cardinals but i will admit after all these years nothing like a school of 20 or 30 cardinals to add a bit of sunshine. What i liked about the rummy was the constant motion week after week after week.

This is super history nerdy, but sometimes the popular names of fish reflect their times. I'm always struck by how out of control alcoholism was after and between the two world wars - in music, comedy, popular culture etc. So the bright red nose of a rum alcoholic got these fish a name that was funny to people back then. Now we're less drunk and more violent, so bloody nose tetras would work...

X-Ray Tetras, rocket killies, neon tetras, PacMan catfish... interesting stuff.

And those Petitella rummies are nice!
