Will post some different fish at a later date :p

EDIT:Noticed its Butthead not Beavis

That "pim pictus" looks like a juvinile Pimelodus albofasciatus to me, note the prominant white stripe down the lateral line of the fish and the lack of poka dot or dalmation spotting on the body.

would agree on that one, doesnt look like any pictus i've seen (apart from the body shape!)

Looks like you have some nice fish though, and a good sized tank..

Say Dangerous

Great looking tank of fish. Is that one tank? How long has it been up?

I think that ornate bircher is very striking and alert. Good pic shots.

The disputed pictus is interesting and striking as well.

I'm pretty sure they were pim pictus, they had come in off a customer at work and the 1 pictured is the huge one, biggest pictus I'ved seen at a full 6-7", i put it's colouring or lack of it down to it being old.

The all shoaled together well in the tank at work.

On a second look i actually think the fish is most likely one of the Pimelodus blochii complex, it certainly isn't one of the pictus complex though the markings on the flank arent quite prominant to be a albofasciatus, as shown here on mine

I think it might be the lighting and angle of the shot that makes them look so different..

the collected Pim. Blochii species varies quite alot, depending where abouts they are collected. It ranges from a fairly dark colour like CFCs (and one of my blochii's) to quite a light colour, possibly like Dan's.

Try getting a shot angled slightly from above to reduce flash glare.

Mine isnt a blochii, thats a albofasciatus

Not much research has been put into Pimelodus and Pimelodella species and it is quite likely that what we call Pimelodus blochii is actually several different but similar looking species, the same goes for P.pictus and P.ornatus. Until someone puts the same effort into the Pimeloids as they have with the Corydoras and Loricarids identifying any pimeloid species is pretty much a hit and miss affair.

I really like that Ornate.... The more and more I see, the more and more I wanty!

Yeah how is this tank, cause you have some lovely fishys that might be giants in time

I'm still not really sure on my 3 big pims. They are each about 9" long, beasties! 1 looks rather like yours CFC, although has more silver than yours has in the picture. The other 2 are slightly different, and I have always labelled them as blochii but have never been 100% happy with the classification as they vary sooo much...
