I just did a massive cleaning on the 80 gallon which, being relatively new, had/has a bit of a red algae problem. I scrubbed all the rocks, the driftwood, the walls... it looks 100% better, if I do say so myself. Now I can take pictures of the thing again without shame!

Aristotle and Marie in their corner... yes, they're still getting along and sharing the same territory. They could occupy separate sides of the tank, but oh no, they both prefer that rock.

You might be able to spot a little scarring from Aristotle's mild (and completely random, considering the water parameters) case of HITH. Glad to say that's well under control and was completely haulted with a couple of 50% water changes and a dose of Melafix :)

Little miss Marie, who isn't so little anymore

Tank shot. Yes, those three plants take quite a beating.

very nice!

that is one of the most colourful oscars i've ever seen!
anything you give it?colour enhancing food?

DD

I've been feeding them Hikari cichlid gold food... I think it does enhance colour. The oscar is a common oscar rather than a tiger, so he has a lot more silver on him than others :)
You should see him when he's in spawning colours! (Yes, trying to spawn with the midas in this pic)

That is a lovely tank. I like how it holds decorations in there for hte fish, but it is not too over crowded with plants or other things to the point where the fish wouldn't be visable. I understand that some of the other tanks need all the foliage, especially for smaller fish, but that tank is so gorgeous!

great photos and great fish. BTW your midas looks like shes a parrot cichlid LOL, tho i am probably wrong

Parrot cichlids are a cross of midas cichlids and another cichlid, sometimes severums, sometimes flowerhorns etc.

Nice fish, although i don't like the "tale-less" look of marie...just my opinion though!

There was actually a thread several pages long when I first got her about what on earth she was... no one could agree
I've always thought she was half midas, half blood parrot (therefore 75% midas, 25% severum,) and a few pics I saw on the net recently seem to confirm this. She has way too few facial deformities to be "pure" blood parrot ( ) but she IS missing her tail, which is a trait sweetheart blood parrots are bred for, and she was being sold as a sweetheart parrot.

bunjiweb -- I don't really like it either, but I'm used to it at this point. I just bought her because she's cute as a button and was at the LFS for ages
She was also dyed blue at first, but I felt ok buying her and giving her a home because my LFS owner never carries dyed fish and didn't know they were dyed when she ordered them.

They're both gorgeous. I'd love to get an oscar. Maybe eventually when I get more tank space. As soon I'll be moving out of my girlfriend's house and her and I are moving into her grandmother's old house which is small and I have no clue where all of my aquariums are going! But when I get space I'm deffinately getting an oscar.

wow beautiful fish esp the oscar.........id love one but we have no room for another tank
