What nw cichlids would be happy in a 55 gallon with some pictus and a bichir?

Couple of firemouths, convicts, festivums, keyholes, sajica or rainbow cichlids maybe.

With "some" pictus and a birchir already, that 55's got quite a bioload already. If adding cichlids I would get a known pair. Or 4-5 smaller ones, and wait for a pair to develop, then get rid of the others. However, with a birchir, getting young cichlids may involve some risk to them if the birchir reckons it might be able to get them in its gob.

Could I keep 1 severum with 3 pictus and a pleco?

75g is usually considered to be the minimum for a sev , but you may get away with 1 of the smaller species such as rotkeil or heros severus , which max out smaller .

75g is an absolute minimum for an adult oscar.

well in a 55g u could prolly have 4-5 (they do better in groups)

Could I get the angels to breed? and do angels get to know and interact with their owner or not?

if you get a group of angels there is a reasonably good chance a pair will for, altho if that happens you may have to re-home the rest ( not always the case ) as the spawning pair will likely become highly territorial towards them .

when i had my angels i found them to be much like any other fairly large cichlid , coming to the front of the tank begging for food etc .
