This is my 80gal in it's current state...Still have some more wood to add, in addition to the plants. Not very much to it right now...Hopefully that will change soon.

Just figured I'd post and show everyone.

General idea for stocking is:

1x Black Ghost Knife
2-3x Spiny eels ( zig-zag or peacock)
1-3x Weather loaches
1-2X African Butterfly Fish
1x Royal Plec
1x Bichir ( not sure what variety yet)

Still subject to change.

That's a nice bunch of oddballs. If I were you, I would add something to the middle swimming area, as some of those fish aren't out swimming all the time during the day. For example, the butterfly will always be on top, the loaches, eels, plec, and bichir will mostly be at the bottom and then you are left with the knife that is nocturnal. :p

Aye, Mr. Fishy advised me of the same thing...I'm currently looking into what sort of oddballs would be good for the mid-level of the tank...I have yet to find anything to my liking though.

Any suggestions?

Hmm... maybe a rarer type of silver dollar? Something like the the barred silver or something like that. click here

That tanks gonna look great! :good:
I'd go for something like silver sharks

He wants Oddballs though, not common fish...so Silversharks are large NO NO and also imo ditch the Plec...

Get a Syno or similar.

why not a siamese tigerfish and a few silver sharks?
I would agree with not putting silver sharks in there and I have to say that I wouldn't keep a dat in there. I mean, it would work for a while, since they grow relatively slow, but the adult size of these fish is just too big for an 80gl.

I kind of had my mind set on the plec, especially because of it's price-tag (20-25$, dropped from 50)

Any reasons as to why I should ditch it?

They often get a taste for the slime coat on birchirs :(

Really think that will be a problem?
It really depends on the pleco. I've always heard that royals are the worst, but you can never predict that kind of stuff. I've been ok with a goldie pleco and a three beacon pleco with mine, but that doesn't mean that all goldies and three beacons are ok with them.

Personally, I wouldn't stock the royal with them.
