only got the electric blues and bolivians today so they should colour up some more

btw fish are:

4 gold rams (only wanted 2 but my 1st 2 were average.. then the lfs got some really nice ones so i had to get em!)
2 blue rams
2 electric blue rams
2 bolivian rams

4 bn plecos (will be reduced to 1 or 2 when they get too large! planning other tanks so they can go in there, or sell em back to the shop)
2 khuli's

2 adopted guppies which im supprised are still alive
2 gold panchaks

1 silver shark (may get too big? do rtb's stay smaller than silvers?)
1 small angel
1 ghost knife (getting big but doesnt bother anyone and the fish arent fussed by him! hes a cool feature fish)

Oh theres also a school of bout 12 neons too forgot bout them guys

wow dude, such a nice tank setup. What kind of money are you talking to get a similar tank ? also what size is it, dimensions and or litres ?

Thanks! ..Its 4ft L 1.5ft W and 1.5ft H. Got the tank and cabinet 2nd hand for $350 (Aus) and got a 2nd hand canister filter for $75. (Aqua one Aquis 1200) and hav added a large internal powerhead filter also, mainly for current. The tank holds about 300L. (75 US gallons)

To answer your question, yes, the silver shark will get too big - and should be in a group of at least 6. I believe a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft is recommended as a minimum to keep these.

Same for the BGK - 500 litres is recommended as a minimum.

Lovely tank :)

stunning tank, but.....
the guppies will get eaten  by the angel when bigger
ghost knife will get two big
kuhli loaches are schooling fish and like to have a minimum of 6
neons will get eaten by the angel when bigger
bolivian rams and GBRs (and thier color variants) shouldnt be kept together, since bolivains like it about 78, whereas GBRs like it a 82
once the Rams pair up, you will have a lot of agression and stressed out rams (to prevent this, make it four pairs, with at least 8 caves spaced out around the tank)
once the rams pair up that will be a lot of babies, that you will need to take care of

it really is a nice tank though. i love the colors of your Electric Blue rams and your Gold Rams:)

edit: oh and silver sharks are schooling fish, and 3 would be fine in a 75 gal but that would be with no other inhabitants

The ph is about 6.5-7 which i thinks low enough to keep the gbrs and happy and not too low for the rest of the inhabitants. You got to remember these fish are most likely bread in ph higher than what they live in in the wild. I think u might be being alittle bit too pedantic.
The knife get a bit of size yes but are completely harmless!
The guppies most likely get eaten yes, i just put them in coz i had em from an old smaller tank. Maybe the neons but i think theyll b ok.
The shark.. He will hav to go eventually i shouldnt hav put him in there didnt do my research 1st!

i was talking about temperature not ph. you don't have to listen to me, i was just trying to give advice.
here is a picture of a bgk

they cuold easily eat you guppies and your neons (so could the angel once it is full size)
bgks get to about 20" in the wild and about 12" in most aquariums (given the right requirements), so it might be fine now, but almost denfinetly it would not be ok later

also here is a topic about bgk i think you might be interested in, since it talks about how big they get http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/413070-black-ghost-knife-for-55g/#entry3479992

Yeah right i didnt know they got that big! 12"! Mates sisters had one for bout 2 yrs and it'd only be 6" i rekon.
Bout the temperature, sorry i thought u had another way of measuring ph or something im aussie so i use celcius not farenheight hence y i didnt understand.
26C is the temp on paper for the bolivian and 28C for the other rams, so the tank is set to 27C. My opinion i think they can adapt 1 degree C.
Well time will tell how big mr knifefish gets and obviously if he outgrows it ill hav to rehome him!
As for the angel hopefully i got a good temperment one. I've had 2 before and one was a bit nasty so i put him in my dads tank with clown loaches... The other one was really placid. Had rummynoses's and he never took one. He was pretty big too.
Cheers for the input tho ay.

the only reason i said the angelfish might eat the neon tetras is because that is thier natural food in the wild

Yeah ok.. Its a very juvi angel hopefully it grows up around em and used to em... And doesnt eat em! Haha. They get a mix of pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms, zucchini and bread... Spose theyre always gonna hav natural instincts tho ay.

Lovely tank. But a quick question: the tank looks massive for your dozen neons, why not up the number? They won't break the system by any means, especially if you are ditching some fish.
