74ltr Tank For A Betta?

This is my ideas so far, i would have the tank divided into 3 sections ( havent quite worked out the number yet i.e litres, gals. ) the 2 betta sections will be the same ammount of gallons, then a very small section for the filter and heater, the stingray filter goes on the side wall facing forwards so it has easy access to go straight forward through the betta tanks, and the heater next to it.
Just a few ideas anyway ^
The tank.
I have this picture of the tank, but its from about 2 months ago but still the same tank :D x
Over veiw of the tank,

aw lol, very cute fish statue. Have the same gravel in the puff tank ;) The basic layout so far so good with the dividing etc :)

Thanks, i think i could really get this sorted with help with you guys on planning and everything :) Xx

I'm thinking more to the back sections of the tank i'll have a group of amazon swords, java fern and cambion plus moss balls.
Then in the middle section a cave type thing.
I have lots more ideas!!!

If you're going to plant this with real plants then for the love of the gods change the gravel to a plain variety ( as in no artificial colours ) , otherwise it will render "natural" planting rather pointless. Sand is a really nice option as well , plants do very well in it. I'm not a fan of most ornaments but it is your tank and your choice of course, since you have two then each betta could get an ornament to play in/rest on among the plants.

Good plants to go with if you're a beginner are Elodia ( which you already appear to have on the right ) Cabomba , Aponogentons, Cryptocorynes, Hygrophillia Polysperma, Moss balls, Java moss and Java fern.

I am successfully growing most of these or have done in the past, and I am no gardener! Very easy most of them.

The moss balls are the absolute easiest as you just chuck them in and leave them to roll about doing their own thing. If nothing else I can suggest you start off with Cabomba, more Elodia ( these two will merely need the tops trimming when they reach the surface ) and mossballs.

You can buy tank dividers on Ebay. Make ABSOLUTELY certain that the divider is tall enough and well above the waterline, so that it is about 1/2 a centimetre away from the cover glass/ splash tray or hood. Bettas have been well known to jump over dividers that are not tall enough, and fights ( often esulting in deathfrom stress if nothing else ) were the inevitable result .

I would suggest a spray bar if you are having one filter to run the whole tank. Face the holes of the spray bar at the back wall of the tank, and pointing down slightly. This will deflect the current and keep the surface movement to a minimum, which should suit most bettas.

If you are not making a separate compartment to house the filter and will have it in with one of the bettas , then ziptie some very fine mesh around the intake holes to prevent long fins being sucked in.

I didnt say i was having the stones i'm having sand, as i already said on my tank pictures they were taking 2 months ago, and this is the goldfish tank i havent started making it into a betta one or i would have sand in the bottom.
The picture of the tank isnt my betta tank, i'm going for a sand as substrate, live plants and maybe an ornament of some sort but im unsure, defo a cocunut cave. x
Thanks for the advice.

It turns out the tanks an 88litre, i must of done it wrong last time ive had someone else check it for me too, and its 88litre!:D
But im drawn between 2 things,
Dividing it into 2 as a betta tank 1 in each side, or taking 2 coldwater panda moor babies ive been offered that could do with a home that my friends breeded, they are gorgeous little things i'd love one, but then my betta would miss out his tank big enough for him and his tanks 33litres on the tank calc!
But im unsure at the mo.

It's completely your choice, but that tank could be so many things

Divided for bettas

Panda moors?

Or even a small community

I would make it a small community but it's your choice hun, do what feel right :good:

Its a tricky choice lol!
I like the panda moor idea because i would like coldwater fish and my beautiful betta.
But still thinking...

Within the next 2 months im giving the fish away, but on another fish site ive been told to do it tropical the 88lite tank, i was thinking maybe half it and have shimmer in one side and maybe another group fish in the other side, any suggestions?Xx

hmmm... that may be a question for the main discussion part of the forum as there will be more variety and opinions given there. Explain the amount of space and gallons availble and what temp to be kept at and they should take you from there
