Hey guys!
Moving home in 10 days (WAHOO!) and am going to donate all my guppies to our local childrens hospice as they have a nice big tank. That will leave me with 2 corydoras and a dwarf pleco.
So stocking ideas please people!?
I love all things cichlid, and other ideas would be great -
thanks!!

I hope you have a safe trip!

You'll want to up your cories, I'm sure.
What's the footprint of the tank? What's your pH at home & is the water hard or soft?

Thankyou!! :)
Yeah, they were in a group of 6 and are now pretty ancient, bless them ... they just kind of tootle along in a pair with their whiskers :3 cute little guys :3
pH is in the middle somewhere I think!? And not sure of the dimensions, i'd measure it for you but its at home! Its not a tall tank, it's long :)
Sorry, I'm useless lol!!

I would get rid of the corys, you need at least six and they might get cramped in that sized tank, unless they are a small species of corys but then i would get rid of the pleco. There are a huge amount of options for you ranging from tetras to gourami, rams, kilifish, hatchet fish, ect... you get my point so how about you tell us the fish YOU want and we can try to find a way to make it work

Ahhh rams! I used to have a pair of bolivian rams and i loved them heaps :3
Which rams could I have? :) I'd like kind of like a centre piece pair like rams or cichlids or something :)
Thanks so far guys!

If it's a long tank I don't see why she couldn't keep the cories, if she wants that is. And of course depending on what type they are.
I was also thinking rams for a centerpiece. Or maybe some type of apistogramma?

I love that word "tootle" How cute.

Well there's only two of the old guys, they're peppered corydoras, and I'm kinda attatched to them :3 They are like the old trojans of my tank, I've had them forever and I do love the way they tootle around :D Yup, that IS a great word! :p
Yeah rams would be an awesome centrepiece! I have only ever had bolivians, what do you guys think? :D

x

So what type of rams and how many!? Oh! I have two ancient harlequin rasboras too!!

Well, if it were me then I would get a corys a school of 7 and same with the harlequins, that then gives room for a pair of rams and you're fully stocked.

What type of pleco do you have?

yeah you can pick out any rams you want and get pair, corys can work i was just trying to give you ways to make room for more fish if you weren't to attached to the corys. Make sure you have a good amount of plants and objects in your tank so your corys can stay out of sight when the rams get territorial.

To be honest with you, I think Rams really need something a little bigger than a 70l, likewise Apistogrammas.

If it were my tank, I'd probably have either a single male Honey Gourami or Dwarf Gourami, and a shoal of something small and mid-water, like Celestial Pearl Danios or Chilli Rasboras, or at a push Lemon Tetras. That will then have all the levels in the tank covered.

I personally think the tank is just a bit on the small side for rams and corys.  Both of which need a min of around 76L and with a footprint of 3ft min.  While I don't think you should get rid of the 2 corys you have since you have had them so long, I also don't really recommend getting more than 1 more for that tank.  There are not many cichlids that are good for a tank that small unfortunately.  Probably shellies of some type but they would not really work with the corys and pleco.  Not really sure what to recommend for your future stocking though.  Killifish are really nice and would work in a tank of your size.

WIth such a small tank cichlids together with corys is not a good idea. There will be conflicts for sure.

lol for some reason my brain translated 70l to 30 gallon just looked it up and its like 18.5g, rams and corys together wont do well in that situation, but I have kept a pair of rams in a 20g tank before. Although it might be better to just get 1-2 more corys and then a honey gourami or killifish for top and you have some options at mid with danios, rasboras and what not.
