I have recently moved from a 28 to 70 litre tank. At present I have a few plants/bog wood as I like a natural looking setup. I currently have a single pepper Cory and a red tail shark which needs to be re homed in a larger tank (any offers of new home W Sussex area?). Obviously I need some more Cory - but as for other fish, we like colour so what would people recommend please?

Current temp 24c, ph of 8, all other levels normal.

Most people will tell you to up the cories to 6, but that will take up a fair bit of space in a 70l. From there, I would go with group of 6 chilli rasboras or celestial pearl danios, and a pair of peacock gobies.

If you can bear to be parted from your pepper cory, you could get a group of of the dwarf cory species (c. pygmaeus or c.habrosus), and then either get a bigger shoal of the rasbos or cpds, or get something bigger as a centrepiece, like an apistogramma cichlid (hongsloi is my favourite, but there are plenty others - numbers depend on which species you go for) instead of the peacock gobies.

Thanks for that - like the ideas so far. I know you're meant to keep the same species of Cory together, but would it be possible to have 3 pepper and 3 albino cory? If not then I may think about rehoming my current cory and going for 6 dwarfs to give me more space.

Well, you can, if you want, but they won't appreciate it as much. The albinos are a colour morph of the bronze, so albino and bronze would work well, but they're much the same size as the peppers.

I've just got some c.habrosus and they are hilarious little things.

Thanks. Is it wise to start building the cory stock up first before adding anything different?

In your situation, it won't make a huge difference which way you go, but you need to build slowly, 2/3 individuals of the species I've recommended at a time. And you also need to concentrate more on rehoming the RTBS as soon as poss.

Any other suggestions please? Having difficulty sourcing the above, I have added two more cory with another couple to follow. Love the look of the celestial pearl danios, and peacock gobies though.

Was it more peppers? Another suggestion that's small and bright are male Endlers, and these don't need to shoal, so you can get 2-3 of those if you want. They'll be easy enough to come by, as will the CPDs.

Went for two albino cory, going to get one more and another peppered. I know it isn't ideal to mix/match but they seem very happy playing together so I think their okay. Will have to look harder for the CDPs, can't find any locally though. The endlers look pretty, thanks, will look into those.

Whereabouts in Sussex are you? I can find the CPDs in my two local Maidenhead branches, and there's several more in West Sussex - Chichester, 2 in Worthing, 2 in Crawley, and Hickstead

Just outside of Worthing, they didn't have any in one of Maidenhead's - will look in the other, Washington or Worthing Aquatics but I haven't looked elsewhere yet.

I'm sure Chichester usually have them, and I know for sure that Havant have them - I bought some from there only about 2/3 weeks ago. Independent shops may still call them Galaxy Rasbora, there's an indy in Portsmouth that still does. When they first hit the market, that's what they were called, but since then, for some reason, the powers-that-be have reclassified them as Danios.

I have heard good things about the Findon MA, although I've not been there myself yet, but I'd be quite surprised if they don't have them.

Cheers, didn't know there was one in Findon. Will pop up there later for a look.

It's in the Wyevale Garden Centre, on the northbound side of the A24.
