I will have a new 54x15x24 (70 uk gal) tank soon. I really want to keep some Silver Sharks. I am aware they can reach 12" & some say 16" in a tank under perfect conditions, but I am getting mixed messages as to what size tank you should keep them in. I would ideally like to keep 2 Silver Sharks, 4 Silver Dollars & 1 Zebra Plec. (or more of all if possible)

I will be getting the fish from my LFS from peoples returns who have out grown there own tanks. (Apparently Silver Sharks & Silver Dollars get offered back to them regularly) Suits me!!

So my question is will my set up be ok for the above?

Ps - I will be running a Eheim 2128 thermo external with it.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

I have a bala shark now that I'm getting rid of in my 29 gal. tank. He is about 7-8 inches now after having him for about 1.5 years, I have him in the tank with 2 angels (about 5+ inches long each) a bottom feader (about 7 inches) and two catfish (about 6 inches long. I have had no problems with them thus far in my 29 gal however they are getting a hair big for the tank I feel. The bala sharks are really nice to look at and watch when there grown.

Bala sharks or silver shark catfish? Shark catfish are a brackish species and need a brackish set-up to be healthy.

Sorry, it's the Bala Shark I was interested in.

Cheers
Oh okay then. There were 3 bala sharks free in the paper a week ago, but I called too late on them.

She said they were arund 3 inches each. I guess she had them in a 10 gallon and she figured out they would get too big. She said you'd have to have a tank od 25 gallons to house them.

I have a 120 gallon. I really want a larger "centerpiece" fish and I just don;t know what to get. I really wanted a pair of keyhole cichlids, but I cannot find them anywhere around here. :grr:
