jus wondering but how do you kno that?
-because i have seen some of his posts and seen his aquariums on his profile thing.I wouldn't of said something unless i didn't know it

and doing what you want when its not good for the fish isnt gonna go down too well here so id atleast keep it quiet if you plan to overstock.
-Whats that supposed to mean 'atleast keep quite'
I've seen your aquarium list and you have overstocked tanks, whats the problem?I said i'm only adding the fish i've got to start of with, that isn't overstocked for a 180gallons.I also said i'm probly selling a couple plecos. You can overstock with good filtration and reg water changes anways, many people do,but probly don't sya on here.Your probably not trying to be rude,i didn't mean to be rude.Although now reading what i said it does sound a ignorent.

Oscars arnt aggresive anyway(on a cichlid scale).
Generally, no. They can be though. If you mean by umbriferum, dovii or labiatus "psycho-ness" then no but some can be pretty boisterous and not do well with others especially if overstocked.
-|I know...but mine is placid!I wasn't stating about all oscars i was saying about mine  .Yes they all have different personalities but i've yet to see an oscar be aggresive as a texas cichlid or a convict  .They arnt the best of fighters anyway.
Happens to be that pretty much all the advice in this thread is right anyways.
-i never stated that it wasn't.

I have 3 spare tanks and some filters on standby for fish anways.
I don't know if any of you realised but i never asked for a stocking list(although was appreciated)i was just telling you guys i was getting a new set up :).You will also find i defended discus angel on another topic about his knowledge.Someone( won't mention name because i don't want to start of anything) i felt was 'picking' on him for simply posting something?!Just want to prove i did't mean any harm to you, discus angel.

180 Gallon - 1 x Oscar, 1 x Severums, 2 x Chalceus Macrolepidotus 6 x Male Convict Cichlids, 5 x clown loaches, 2 x Bala Sharks, 6 Silver Dollars, 1 x Blue Acara

oscar 55 gallon =15 gallons for severum 70 gallons 2 x Chalceus Macrolepidotus +30 gallons=100 gallons 6x male convict =60 gallons 160 gallons=5 clown loaches 15 gallons each =75 gallons=240 gallons...and so on .He's telling me not to overstock and not to say it on here when my tank wouldn't be overstocked and his is... :/Oh wait are you following the 1 gallon per fish rule?

i never thought you were trying to be nasty. but it doesnt matter. now Sams tank isnt overstocked.most of his fish arent even fullsize. so lets carrys on with your topic. basically, like you said its your tank and yes it is. you had some nice ideas except from a few at the start. but work around our List all the fish you like, search them see there angerness and see what they live with find wich ones are below 6/10 then find the ones which are compatable and ice cichlids tank.

Also oscars can be aggressive. as someone rehomed there beautiful parrot to Sam because an oscar was bullying it. so any fish that has the capability to bully is an agressive fish on a scale of 1-10 i would say oscars are about 7.

I was saying about my oscar as i've stated.I apoligised for what i said.Ok here we are again sam was saying about my tank being overstocked and saying i shouldn't say that on here...Still hasn't said why.If someone actually read properly what i posted it would of made sense,i said i was only adding the fish i have to start with and that i am probably going to sell some of the plecos.Personally i think sams tank is fine, but your saying my tank is overstocked when in theory yours is much more overstocked then mine ?Did i ever state all my fish were fully grown?no...now can this end.. :good: It was all a misunderstanding anyway

lol nice try.

the inch per gallon rule applies to slim bodied fish less than 3" max size not big cichlids and oddballs!!

so by your rule you could keep a 15" oscar in a 20 gallon tank? even have room for 5 neons.

like i sed. nice try

Sam just leave it, and also were saying its overstocked in the regards of aggresion. if you look at sams tank there al reasonalbly non aggressive. but things like convicts, Jcs, Texas, Terrors, are all bad and if you were to puy these together you will probably have problems.

if you want to keep your oscar i was saying you wont have many tank mates avaliable. as he will eat things aswell as bully them. only thing i can suggest is your plecs!!

but if you rehomed your oscar you would have the whole choice of cichlids to choose from. but if you did get rid of him you could go to you lfs and find one fish that your adore and then work your tank around that as most fish will go with plecs.

No,sam i started of with 55 gallons then added 10-20 gallons per fish..I never said you said i should leave. You said i shouldn't say 'that' whatever that is,on here. How many times do i say that i'm not keeping convicts, JDs, Texas',now.I can't give my oscar away atm because i took him in to try and get him to health,he has hole in the head pop eye and other fungal infections :/.Maybe a convict though because i have kept them together with silver dollars and parrots before.going out tomorrow to buy a shoal of silver dollars,my 100 gallon will be heavily overstocked for a couple of weeks.I should get this tank within 3 weeks because on ebay i can get custom built 6ft x 2ft x 2ft for £155,+£40 with postage. So cheap!

ok so keep your oscar in a seperate tank and get him nice and treated. Sorry didnt see that u say your not having jds texas etc. as your getting a shaol of SD's i think u should work around that. when ur going to your lfs have a look at there fish see which ones you like :) u may see a beautiful non aggressive one. Gl with going to the fish shop

Yup,sure is gona be good tomorrow.I'm going to huningdon garden & leisure. They have an alright selection of tropical fish but try to sell you anything lol  .Atleast i know what i'm doing now! When i first went there i came back with a texas cichlid in a 2ft tank  .They have a really good marine section though(i think),i always like looking at marine fish  .I also think 2 of the upside down catfish might be slightly infected so i'm treating them aswell :shout: .Anways thanks discus angel :good:

We went to 3 shops in total. One has silver dollars for sale for £2 but they were only small. So went to another one had exactly same small ones £4,then went to another and they had them for sale at £7.My dad will get 4 of them later this week.I came home with two ottos for my discus anyway. :good: I saw a massive flowerhorn shoved in a 20gallon tank,i recon the owners must of given him because he got to big or aggresive,so it wasn't the fish shops fault.Lovely and friendly though!
