I'm currently on my sixth day of cycling my tank and at the moment I wouldn't call it a cycle at all. Instead, I'm going to call it a stationary.

So, on the first day of my stationary I dosed 5ppm of ammonia and six days later it hasn't decreased at all! I'm losing the will to live!

I am doing a fishless cycle without mature media but I never imagined it taking this long. Ahh well, I better sit it out and stop moaning.

I'm sure you will have fishes in the tank some day! I know nothing about cycling, can't remember the last time i had to cycle a tank from scratch!

I have no idea why I decided to start from scratch. It was my genius plan to get rid of my old 80L tank weeks before my new 125L arrived. I regret it now.

I must have been drugged!

It is not uncommon for 10-15 days to pass before anything happens.

Hopefully once something starts to happen, I can get the cycle over and done with nice and quickly.

The temperature is right (29C) and the pH is right (7.2) at the moment.

I think mine was about 20 days before it dipped the first time!

No i was quite unlucky, my cycle took over 3 months all in all.

OWCH! :look:

Knowing my luck, I will be the same...

why not get some mature media from a local?

I don't want to ask my LFS as I would feel rather cheeky. I haven't bought anything from them for quite a while so I would probably go bright red and squeaky!

6 days and you are like this! You're not going to make it

You're worse than my wife on a diet!!

Even with some matured media you would be pushed to show anything after 6 days.

Be assured though, if you stick with it you will feel an overwhelming sense of achievement when you get that zero-zero reading!

Good luck my friend :good:

I get excited too easily, I'm useless!
I'll have to cope.

I'm sure I'll get there in the end :D :good:

You should have just done what I did and steal some mature filter media from your best mate whos had his filter running for 2 years, I chucked it right in 2 days later I added fish and I had no problems at all :D

Yeah, 6 days is quite soon for it to start - mine started after about 10 days - every exciting time! Sadly it stopped 6 days later and nothing has happened since. I say nothing, but actually the nitrite that was produced originally seems to be being processed into nitrate slowly... Shame there will be no nitrite left in a few days to keep it going at this rate!
