You should have just done what I did and steal some mature filter media from your best mate whos had his filter running for 2 years, I chucked it right in 2 days later I added fish and I had no problems at all![]()
Is there any nitrite showing at all, even a little?
Well, even if they don't know about cycling.. they probably don't have any reason to say "no", so you could always offer to buy a new replacement sponge for them? You should have just done what I did and steal some mature filter media from your best mate whos had his filter running for 2 years, I chucked it right in 2 days later I added fish and I had no problems at all![]()
I wish I knew somebody who actually keeps fish seriously and knows what cycling is...
Sometimes, there is some nitrite in tap water, but it still takes a while to get that part of the cycle going.. I wouldn't worry about testing nitrite until a couple of days after the ammonia starts dropping noticeably. Is there any nitrite showing at all, even a little?
I haven't actually tested for Nitrite yet however the ammonia level hasn't dropped.
I think I've seen the first drop in ammonia today!![]()
It's only slight but it's still a drop, it looks like I'm going somewhere after all!
