'Kay i was thinking tanginyaka, but know very little bout keeping africans, so i thought id like to keep micropredators and catfish in a six foot tank (18" wide and tall) so here goes.....
2 Lamprilogus Sexfasciatus
3 " Birchardi (fairy cichlid)
2 " calvus (pearly compressiceps)
2 Julidochromis mullieri
3 Xenotilapia Ochrogenys Karilani
2 Pseudotropheus Duboisi
1/2 Synodontis multiplepunctatus
1 Tyre track eel (also known as fry culler.....)
3 Syn. Nigriventis (i know not tanganiyakan but still African :p )
1 Clown plec
1 Angelicus plec
1 spotted dora
1 Syn. Ornatapinnis

So whaddya think? will it work? and do u think that these guys can breed in this set up (intend to be rocky!)

Aw come on i need some words of advice guys :-( I've never actively kept cichlids bar firemuths and severums which are different ball game...
I just need to know if they can be kept without them harmig each other and if i may have a chance of getting some of them to breed...

I could think of worse combinations...

Make certain there are distinct rockpiles with open areas between them to define territories. Also include a few piles of shells (like 3 piles of 20 shells each), and I would also suggest sand for the substrate to make life easier for the xenos and synos.

You probably mean Tropheus duboisi, and if so, leave them out of the equation, as they are speciallized herbivores that will not survive with any meat in their diet, required for the rest of the fish. Likewise, if by some fluke they do survive (0% chance), they would slaughter their tankmates like kids at an anthill.

Breeding will occur once conditions stabilize, but with calvus, eels, and synos in there, you may not see many fry.

Good luck, and enjoy!
