Hi, I have recently just traded in my 4ft an 2ft tanks and bought a 6ft tank that I am going to start from scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions on stocking it as I have not yet made up my mind. All I know so far is it will be tropical, not marine. All thoughts welcome, thx.

If you do a bit of research I would go with Discus it would be beautifull.

Discus arent suitable for everyone though, some people simply dont have the time for them.

What about oscars?

With a tank that size the world is your oyster.

I would go for big a huge african cichlid tank. A stingray would be cool.

I'd go for large compatible New World Ciclids like Oscars, JD's, Sev's etc

I was thinking more of gouramis, with a few bala sharks. Do you think this tank is big enough to keep more than one red tailed black shark in without much conflict. I was thinking of planting it at both ends aswell so any suggestionsd on these would be welcome. thx

I would increase the number of clown loaches and silver sharks so that they are in the correct numbers (5+) and have a really good amount of room.

Once they are growing well you can look at unusual fish such as climbing perch (predatory labarynth fish with some species reaching up to 8"), dwarf snakeheads, largert predatory Characins or some of the larger catfish.

i'd keep new world cichlids like someone suggested, oscars, jd's, severums, keyholes...

then a common pleco to clean up

I love this view of a common plec (one of the largest waste producers there is) being there for clean up...
