Hi all,

I was lucky enough to marry the man of my dreams last week. My grandmother was married 60 years ago on March 31, 1945. I was honoured to wear her wedding dress. She kept it wrapped in a sheet in a drawer for the last 60 years if you can believe it. The best part was it was a perfect fit. I don't have very many pictures yet as my dad was using my camera and he has no clue what zoom is. But I do have a few and I thought I would share them with you.

First though, when I was getting ready to go to my mom's house(I was married in her back yard) I found this bloom on one of the daisies I had bought for the tables. I thought it was very fitting as the two blooms become one and share one stalk.

This is me walking down my mom's stairs, I met both my father and stepfather at the bottom and they walked me to my husband(It is so neat to be able to call him that! )

And finally, the happy family, with our two best friends that were our witnesses.

It was so hot the day I was married that as soon as the photos were done, I changed, man was I hot!

awwwwwww!! Sabrina, Look how beautiful you are
Wow, for a 60 year old dress it is absolutely remarkable, it looks brand new!!
Your daughter is adorably precious, and I hope you saved those flowers because that's really neat.

Congrats to you and your family  You look wonderful together.

I have the flowers drying at my mom's house. I got 2 dozen roses from Costco for $14.99 I think. My sister made the bouquet 15 minutes before I got married. We took a bag of bows from my mom's Christmas stash and took out the staples to wrap the roses together. Good thing one of us is artistic.

The bouqet I carried was actually going to be for my girlfriend, but we thought her roses looked better so I used them instead.

I loved the dress, but I was really glad to take it off. I was at my cousin's wedding the week before I got married and she kept her dress on all night. So did my mom and sister. I couldn't imagine it. I thought I was going to pass out from the heat and excitement.

I was also lucky enough to be able to wear my grandmother's pearls. She was so happy there was finally someone small enough to wear her dress.

I planned and executed the wedding in under 2 weeks. We had been engaged for over a year, but I am a procrastinator and slightly spontaneous. I am not an extravengent sort at all, so it was quite easy actually. I enjoyed it much more than any big wedding that I have been too. I avoided so much stress by going small, but had to sacrifice having the majority of my family there. My dad is one of 10, so I have 35 cousins, and at last count I think I am at 40-45 second cousins. Strangely enough we are a very tight knit bunch, so it was hard to not have them there.

K I am done rambling now. The excitement hasn't quite worn off yet.

Ahhh how lovely and what beautiful picutures - gorgeous one of your daughter

Congratulations to both of you :D

Congratulations to you and your husband!!
The dress is absolutely beautiful and your daughter is adorable!
Yay, you're a wifey now!!!!

The dress is stunning and in immaculate condition! Congratulations to you, your husband, and daughter - well your whole family. How fitting is the flower that is two fused together.

On another note: How did you tell everyone no? My fiance and I are getting married in October and it seems to be the most difficult thing thus far.

Again, congratulations! :)

I told everyone that we wanted to keep it simple. They are a very understanding bunch. Besides, they all got to go to my cousin's wedding on the 6th, so they have had their fill of weddings

We get together often, so we will celebrate another time.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I will be sure to let my grandmother know everyone loves her dress. I haven't seen her smile very much since my grandpa passed away, but did she ever smile when she saw me wearing it. I will cherish that for the rest of my life.

Back to happy news. I got my marriage liscense today! I can finally go change my name. I have 3 cheques written to me with my new last name and I can't cash them! Good thing I have tomorrow off so I can do it then.
