well Ian finally moved his last tank into ours today so I thought I'd take some pics of all our tanks now we have 6 of them, I think we need to go join mts anonymous

they're a bit warts and all, after 5 hrs moving tanks and trauma of having Ian's mum round to my house for the first time (with no warning so I had no chance to clean up or anything!) I really didn't feel like going round re-planting and algae scraping etc. Take us as you find us!

The camera shutter speed isn't adjustable so that accounts for the blurryness of some fishy shots, all other dodgy photo's are entirley my fault.

So first, my little 25g tank, the first one I ever got. I just re arranged it all last week, changed to sand and I've gone for quite a bare look to the tank, just 3 plants which hopefuly will bush out nicely in a few months time. current occupants are :

2 green sailfin molly's
1 black molly
4 harlequin rasbora's (know there should be more, they're the end of an old shoal that will be replaced when they pass on)
3 neon tetra's (as above)
8 rasbora beaforti
5 veiltale leopard danio's
8 white peacock endlers
5 amano shrimp

OK then onto Ian's 5g hex, only one occupant the marvelous rincewind

now downstairs, we've now 4 tanks in the living room, here's a few shots of how it's all laid out so you can see just how crowded it is! Excuse the mess, it was tidy before we started moving tanks, honest

now Ians big tank, the one that moved in today, it's 55/60g can't remember exactly. Occupants are:
1 black lace angel
2 golden angels
2 albino angels
1 sailfin molly
2 shrimp (can't remember what sort)
8 assorted black and white cory's
1 albino plec

Then my beloved trigon 350, it's about 80g, occupants are:
1 Red tiger oscar - called Oscar
1 parrot fish - Polly
1 firemouth - Vicky (Beckham)
1 royal Plec - Eric the 3rd earl of findom

We've then got two 30g tanks stacked on top of each other. Note this is a good space saving idea but a complete pain in the posterior for maintenance, if we had room to take them apart we would. few pics of them both

Top one first then, this is my tank, 2nd one I got. Contemplating a change to sand on this one too, Ian's truly converted me. Occupants are
2 opaline gourami's
2 dwarf gourami's
2 rams
5 dwarf cockatoo cichlids
8 corydora's julii
1 striped talking catfish

that's the lot for now, loads of work to be done on pretty much every tank tbh but it keeps us busy!!

:D

Wednesday 6pm at London Aquarum, thats our MTS anonymous meetings :p

I'll save you and Ian a seat next to me, his mother will have to sit on the floor though lol

Only joking.

A lovely collection!
You should dedicate one room in the house to them all, and make it a fish room!

oops some of them haven't resized, tbh I can't be bothered sorting it now, will do it later

london's a bit far from us though

I'd love to have a fish room, sadly considering we have a living room, a kitchen, 1 bedroom and a bathroom i don't think we can really turn any of them into a fish room. Hopefully were moving into a bigger place next year though so then we can.

Very nice pics! :) Oscars are such characters, what a camera hog!

Figuring racks for stacked tanks can be tricky. I'll bet that lower tank is a pain, I've got a few that are low like that. Getting a good siphon going can be tough, I try to use them for fry or more delicate fish where a strong siphon would be bad for them. It looks like there isn't much space between the top of the lower tank & the bottom of the upper tank, another maintenance pain.

thanks, yup he is, right little show off, think he was just after his dinner though

your quite right, we had the top tank for ages, then a colleague of mine decided she wanted to give up keeping fish and knowing I like them asked if we wanted owt from her tank, we went round to see it and the equipment was all good and the fish were unsuitably stocked and overcrowded so we took pity on them and said we'd take the whole thing. Re-homed the fishes and converted the tank to african cichlids. We just assumed it'd be fine to go there and we'd have enough room to do maintenance, big mistake, but by the time we realised it the fish were on the floor of the living room in buckets and there was nowhere else for the tank to go so we just had to deal with it. Were getting used to it now but it can be a right nuisance doing anything. We have to siphon water into the tank as well as out of it.

I fill my tanks with a hose, so that isn't a problem with the lower ones. Back in the days of buckets, I used to use a cheap pond pump with a length of hose attached for filling lower tanks. All my other tanks get siphoned into a 35 gallon can which gets emptied with a 1400gph pump, a sort of mobile sump. The top of the can is way higher than the lower tanks, so I siphon them into a bucket with the pond pump emptying the 5 gallon bucket into the 35 gallon can.

A cheap pond pump may make maintenance easier for you, a cheapie works fine as it is only running for around an hour a week.

yeah we've used the hose a few times, just the fish in there are quite sensitive to temp changes so you need to warm the water a little first, so just doing it from the hose on the cold tap isn't a good idea :/ we use the hose to siphon out the big tank too sometimes, just stick one end straight out onto the street

we saw a dead fancy gravel vac that attached to your taps, had an enormous length of hose anderm some other stuff I can't remember  think were gonna get that in a few weeks

thats a python i think. attaches to the tap so you can pump water back in 2.

was wondering where you and ian were.... now i kno.

glad you got it all sorted tho!!

the rena will look better in a week or two, i still have alot i need to do with it, it was getting neglected when it was at my mums so now its here its going to get loads done to it, first thing on the list is backings, (and for all the tanks)
i "borrowed" some ply from work and i`m going to cut it to size then paint it black and selotape it to the back ofr the tanks,

then the renas going to get a load more new plants and maybe a big bit of bog wood if i can find one i like....

fantastic tanks.............id love to be a 6 tank household but then there would be no room for us 2 humans(we have a small flat sadly :-( )

believe me out house isnt that big, but our tanks are :D :D :D :D
