I have a 29 gallon tank with only six fish in it. All the fish are pretty old, but happy. The rest of the fish that I have had have slowly died off from old age. I recently just totally renovated the tank and moved things around. It looks totally different, but good. I want to start from scratch (not totally obviously cause of the current six fish, but you know what I mean) with stocking. This is the current stocking.
1 yoyo loach
2 corydoras catfish
1 platy
1 clown loach
1 betta

I was thinking maybe more corys, yoyos, and platys. But, I would also like something different for a change. I don't want to regret my choice, and then be stuck with it for probably four years or more lol. I have had tetras, danios, and livebearers. What do you think would work?
:)

Sorry! I don't have an answer for you but I hate it when no one replies to my questions.. and I have a question for you. Bottom picture from Rent. Gentleman in the middle...isn't he from Law & Order?!?!
:hyper:

Soooo any ideas???

So bout add:
3 yoyos
3 corys
4 platys
1 angel fish
2 rams

What would go well with that, and would that work?

Okay, couple of questions. The betta, male, female? The tank, how tall is it, because you need something taller for the angel. Angel and rams together might not work, and if I remember correctly don't clown loaches get kinda big?

Ok, one answer to your question, they are yoyo loaches not clown. The betta is a male. I have had angels in there before also with the betta so they would be fine together. I have asked on here before about the angels and rams together, and I have had yes's for answers, so idk.

Ok, I have been thinking of some possible stocking options. Here goes one:
4 yoyo loaches
1 clown pleco
5 platys
5 corydoras catfish
1 betta
2 rams
1 dwarf gourami
1 opaline gourami
1 angel fish

Is that too much? Could I add some mollys by any chance? Any other ideas?

I'm not sure about the other fish but I would recommend that you don't get the gourami since they and bettas tend to fight.

Also is the tank planted?

I've just started keeping Sunset Playttys again. They really are good looking fish. The Gourami is a good shout but I also keep 3 shoals of Tetras, Black Neon, Neon and Glowlight and they look really good under the light.

My tank is quite planted. I have had bettas and gouramis together before, and they have gotten along wonderfully. In fact they usually are the best of friends, sounds strange I know, but true.Yes platys are wonderful fish. So is that stocking ok?

You have quite a few bottom-dwellers there. They may get on but the tank may look a little boring IMHO. Never had Angels but I understand they can be nippy? Maybe not a good idea with the Betta?

Clown loaches need to be kept in groups to be happy, they should never be kept on there own.
They need large tanks of at least 75 gallons.

Hi There,

you have a 29 gallon, which I will assume is a standard 30 x 12 x 18

IMO you have to many bottom dwellers on your list.

Yoyos are extremely active fish and get to about 4-5 inches.
Depending on the species of cory, that's any were from 2-3 inches and are also extremely active. Both of these species of fish are all over the bottom and from what I have read go into the mid water region as well. I would eliminate one ( I would eliminate the yoyos) and bump the cory school to six or seven. I think it would be better for the fish and their conformability.

Your gourami's will depend on the temperament of the fish. Both of those species are known to be aggressive, especially the opaline when it wants to mate or just personality.

You also have three labyrinth on the upper level and they may all not tolerate others in their territory.

I think the angel is fine, your tank is pretty tall. Same with the rams, I have read they are fine together.

Another thing to think about is the rams aggression during mating, I'm not sure how the react to the cories. I know little about rams and their behaviors, all I do know is when they mate can be very aggressive.

So I what I would personally do is:

1 angel
2 rams
1 clown pleco
6 or 7corries
7 I'm not a big fan of live breeders so personally I would go with some type of tetra

This is of coarse with good maintenance and filtration.
I would also put the Betta in its own small tank. Maybe a 10 gallon if you have the room, there really cheap. Then you can have another small community with the betta and another small shoaling fish.

I would not put a gourami in the tank because IMO the angel is a great center piece and I think a 6 inch opline is going to be to much fish for the upper region.

Gook luck in whatever you chose,

TigerLotus :)

And again, it is a yoyo loach not a clown. I think you got it mixed up with my lovely clown pleco. Okie dokie, how bout this for stocking? 1 yoyo loach.
1 clown pleco
5 corydoras
6 platys
1 betta
2 rams
1 angel fish or opaline gourami can't quite decide yet.
Is there anything interesting that I could add? Or is that it. If there isn't enough room I can scratch the angel/opaline off my list.
