Well after seeing fresh mikes stand i thought hey i might make one of those and get a 55g to go with it lol so i though id take some progress shots for ya! :D

First off The tank... 48" x 14" x 20"

After the tank was bought we brought out the big drop saw and cut the pieces we needed for the framework...

Next step i forgot to take pictures of so i only got the near end product of the framework minus the lil support beams..

The lil beams are put in place and this is what the tanks going to look like on top it all... Im still not sure wether thats where i want it but yea heres what its like so far...

What kind of tank is it going to be? What fish?
Im making it into a planted community tank... I really want to get discus so think im going to get discus, gouramis ( If they can go in with them ) cardinals, lots of cories and probably some rummynoses! Not quite sure what else or how many of each yet doing all the research now...

I would just go with some Adult Discus, tetras, and some cories. Make sure you get Adult or Semi Adult Discus because juvies wouldnt do well at all in a planted tank with substrate.

Just to give you and idea of how nice you could make your tank look here is a planted 90g tank that won 3rd in ACA. This is how I want my 55g tank to look like when I get around to planting it.

Thats a awesome looking tank... :D Im going to be doing about the same as that but having a rock wall on each of the corners with a big piece of wood in the middle... Jus wondering how come juvies wont do well in a planted tank? :/

Aj86, I'm looking at your stand design - it doesn't appear that the weight of the tank is supported by the vertical beams? From the pictures you provided, I _think_ the nails are going to hold the weight, which shouldn't be the case...

Some random thoughts... ;)

Juvie Discus require really clean water and Im not saying they wouldnt survive in your planted tank but they would be pretty stressed and they wont grow very fast inless you change the water alot.
