I was wondering if I could keep shell dwellers and german blue rams together the ph is 7.5, nitrite0 and nitrate 5. I do not want to mess with the ph it is what my tap water is and all my tanks are the same.

Good question, I wouldn't mind knowing that. Hopefully one of the guys here will have some experience in mixing them. Sorry i can't help more

I would say that it is technically possible, but I have no idea how the fish will react to each other. If you can give a clear definition between their territories I'd say it very well could work.

Don't worry, messing with the ph is usually unnecessary in the first place. I played chemist when I first got into the hobby, then I realized it's actually not needed.

does that go for Mbuna aswell Freddy??

am just setting up my 55 gallon and am plannin on using some marine sand to raise the PH.

good idea or bad?

would/could Mbuna adapt to a lower pH of around 7.5ish?

cheers

Nothing wrong with adding some aaragonite or limestone to help bump up parameters, it's more the artificial treatments that concern me.

At the same time, they'd do very well in ph 7.5 water.

Yep my Mbuna tank has a ph of exactly 7.5 and no probs
