Not sure if you'd be interested or not but this is a setup I have really wanted to do for a while:
-2 angels
-8 Colombian tetras
-8 silver hatchets
-2 Farlowella
-Either a few cories or a pair or two of dwarf cichlids
Good luck with the tank anyhow!

thanks for the imput im not really a fan of the hatchets,i like thr idea of columbian but i think i might only do one species of scholling fish.

anybodyelse

Cardinals (I'd say rummynoses, but you said you have trouble sourcing them)
Corys (I'd advocate adolfo's or sterbai)
One or two bristlenoses

No inverts

Amazon sword
Sagittaria
Cabomba

Consider a soil substrate under a layer of play sand. Very good for ph and you won't need to fertilise for years. Takes longer to stabilise to add fish.

ok thanks for the input sounds great but will the cardinals be preyed on by the angels?
please keep suggestions coming

It's their natural food in the wild, but I've never had an issue, even when adding new small tetras to the tank. I have two angelfish in my tank with a large shoal of neons (not cardinals), no issues.

oh ok i just dont wont to much predatioim not buying them as food.n as

Yes it all depends on the personality of the Angels.
Personally my breeding pair are kept with Cherry Barbs, they have never shown aggression to anything apart from when they were with other Angelfish, even then the female just sat there - I wouldn't go smaller than this just incase as they are very greedy but my DD Angel kept on his own is horribly aggressive to everything including the Clown Loaches he's in with - daft difference between them!

How about Black Phantom Tetras? Always liked these.

phantoms eh are they anything like black skirts because then that would be useless because i have a buch of 1 inch juvies of them.

ok
as for the harley i guess i could do them i just am not sure of the coloration of them do they occur in the same area as angelfish?
