I am cycling my 55 gallon tank right now, and I am looking into stocking my tank. I have a good source of getting malawi's through a friend. This is what I want to get. Let me know if this would work, or if it would be over stocked

2-German Red Peacocks
2-Blue Ahli
2-Yellow Labs
2-Red Zebras
2-Blue Demasoni

If I have room which I don't think I will. I would like to get 2 Yellow Regals

As for the Blue Demasoni, it sounds like they are pretty aggresive and might not work in my set up. If this is true is there any other Malawi Cichlid that looks like a Blue Demasoni and would fit into my tank set up.

Thanks for your help

Can i be honest??

You are mixing mbuna with peacocks and that don't really work too good tbh.. i would keep one type or the other, not both..

2 of each species is a no no as well for the mbuna (well the labs will be ok) but the red zebras and demasonis are a definate no no, will end up as 1 in no time you mark my words, particulalrly in such an understocked tank.....

perhaps if you could give us the reasons why you want these fish or the theory behind it we maybe able to offer some constructive advice and getr you the tank and stocklist of your dreams :)

Hope this helps :good:

Regarding the ahli and the peacocks you hoping for two males or two pairs??

The reason I want this set-up is because I a seen a tank with a mix like this. and ya the Demasoni was by himself. I understand that now. He had mixed these fish together, but overstocked it a tad bit so the fish would not claim territory. He also put all of these fish in together at once, when they are 1-2". He said he never had a problem with this setup.
Also I like the color contrast you get with all of these fish. I am new to cichlids so any information will help. If you have another idea of what fish that have good color then all means let me know about them. Thanks for all your help
