I am going to get a 55 gallon discus tank with some other fish. I wanted to know what other people thought. Here are a few of my options:

1. A pair of ram, an oto, a small school of cories, and a school of neon tetras.
2. A pair of ram, my pleco, and a school of neon tetras.

Otto's are group fish 5+ as are cories. What kind fo plec is it? The neon tetras would likely be eaten. The rams are fine. Kribs would attack all the fish you've listed except maybe the plec.

actually if you put the discus with neon tetras since they are small, while growing they'll get used with each other and they'll do just fine... some friends of mine have aquariums like that...

though i wouldn't add more species there (i don't like mixtures)

Look at the tiny size of those discus though. I've read of people have 10-11" discus.

You can't 'breed' them together :S and how do you know it works if they can't even fit one in their mouths yet..........

breeding discus with neon tetra is a common thing, or at least it is in my country :) (i'm just getting used with other country breeder's practices)

i'm sorry but i have NEVER heard of people breeding discus to neons. maybe you mean putting the neons in with thebaby discus so they recognise them as freinds and not a food source?

idk, some people do have success with this, but from my experiences and many others, if it can fit in it's mouth than it's going to be food eventually.
